Easy Baked Honey Sriracha Chicken Drumsticks
Easy Baked Honey Sriracha Chicken Drumsticks are incredibly juicy and flavorful. It’s hard to believe that these take only 5 quick minutes to prep and throw into the oven. Garlic powder, lemon pepper seasoning and Chicago steak seasoning make this inexpensive dinner option very tasty. The drizzle of honey and sriracha over the top takes these drumsticks to another level.
Drumsticks are a great protein to buy when trying to stay within the family grocery budget. They’re so tender and juicy because the meat is on the bone. And you can fry or airfry your chicken making the skin crispy and crunchy.
Honey and sriracha are a match made in Heaven. The sweet stickiness of the honey pairs amazing with the spicy and very flavorful sriracha. They are a perfect compliment to the seasonings used in this recipe as well.
This is my favorite type of recipe because it makes everything so easy when all of the spices have the exact same measurement. It doesn’t get any simpler than needing just one teaspoon of all of the dried seasonings.
And it’s very simple to just omit the spicy sriracha for any kids or adults who aren’t spice fans. The honey oven baked chicken will make them just as happy.
My family does what we lovingly term “Meat Fest”. We roast Seasoned Oven Baked Pork Ribs and these Easy Baked Honey Sriracha Chicken Drumsticks. I serve it with Mom’s Thai Som Tum (Papaya Salad) and fresh hot Jasmine rice. I love roasting chicken gizzards for these nights as well for Tonio and I.
This is one of those great main dishes to make for a busy weeknight dinner. It doesn’t get much easier than throwing chicken drumsticks on a pan sprayed pan and adding some seasonings, honey and sriracha. This is only about a 5 minute process. Toss your drumsticks in the oven and voila! One hour later, you will have perfectly cooked and juicy chicken drumsticks with unbelievable flavor.
Is there anything better than making a delicious dinner using only one pan? Absolutely not. Make sure you soak your pan once your chicken drumsticks come out of the oven. This will ensure that your clean up afterwards is a breeze. These are my favorite weeknights. I love when the dinner is quick and easy and the clean up is no stress.
What seasonings are good for chicken drumsticks?
What’s excellent about chicken drumsticks is that they are very versatile and there’s so much that you can do to change up the flavor. These seasonings all pair exceptionally well when flavoring your chicken drumsticks.
- Taco seasoning or a mix of cumin and chili powder
- Ranch seasoning
- Lemon pepper seasoning
- Adobo
- Season all
- Sazon
- Celery salt
- Chicago steak seasoning
- Sauces such as soy sauce, BBQ, teriyaki or sweet and spicy
What can I use instead of chicken drumsticks?
I like to make different recipes with chicken drumsticks. They are, of course, delicious. But people also seem to get a little nervous when cooking with chicken drumsticks and I feel like it’s a cut of chicken that doesn’t get the attention that it deserves. You could certainly use your favorite cut of chicken or whatever you have on hand. Instead, you could use chicken thighs, legs or wings. Meat on the bone is the most flavorful and comes out the juiciest.
Chicken breast would also be excellent using this recipe. If using breast, I would adjust the oven temperature to 350°F. Cook for about 30-35 minutes or until cooked through. Be sure to give these Quick Jalapeño Popper Smothered Chicken Breast a try!
What can I serve with my oven baked chicken drumsticks?
As I said earlier, hot Jasmine rice and some homemade Som Tum or hot sauce is my go-to. But potatoes also pair with chicken drumsticks perfectly. You could serve your chicken drumsticks with Roasted Baby Potatoes and Rainbow Carrots or Crispy Parmesan and Olive Oil Smashed Potatoes.
You could also serve these with your favorite dipping sauce. Or garnish the drumsticks with some chopped fresh cilantro, parsley or mint.
How do I know when the chicken drumsticks are done baking?
The greatest kitchen tool for answering this question is the good old meat thermometer. You want your chicken to reach 165°F internally. Insert the meat thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken drumstick. Make sure to not touch the bone. It’s important to make sure your chicken is always cooked thoroughly before serving.
What can I do with the leftover chicken drumsticks?
Leftover chicken drumsticks reheat very well right in the microwave. Or you can cover them tightly with aluminum foil in a baking dish and heat them in the oven at 350°F for about 15-20 minutes or until reheated through.
You could modify some of your favorites if you have a lot of leftover chicken as well. You can cut out the time it takes to cook the protein. Cut the meat off of the Easy Baked Honey Sriracha Chicken Drumstick bones. You can use this meat to top a Thai Rice Bowl. The chicken can be used as a substitute for the ground pork.
Or you could prepare Thai Noodles with Mushrooms and Snow Peas. Instead of beef, you’ll toss in chicken that’s been cut from the bone at the end of the stir-frying. This recipe already only takes 20 minutes so the chicken will make it come together even quicker than that.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F. Pan spray large baking pan and place the chicken drumsticks so that they are close but not touching each other on the pan. Season evenly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried parsley, lemon pepper seasoning and Chicago steak seasoning.
Drizzle the chicken drumsticks with honey and sriracha. Bake for 1 hour or until cooked through. Serve with hot Jasmine rice and enjoy!
