Easy and Classic Vietnamese Peanut Sauce
This peanut sauce is one of my favorite sauces. It has the perfect amount of salt, citrus and spiciness. There’s no end to the number of dishes that you can serve this Vietnamese peanut sauce with.
This sauce comes together very quickly in under 5 minutes. The amount of flavor that this peanut sauce packs is sure to impress anybody that gives it a taste. This sauce is so versatile and can be used in many other dishes. I always serve this peanut sauce on the side of my fresh spring rolls and my Traditional 6-Ingredient Vietnamese Chicken Satay. If you’re anything like my husband, you’ll just eat it out of the pan.
I was first introduced to this slice of Heaven while dining at my favorite local Vietnamese restaurant. I had this peanut sauce as the dipping sauce that was served with my fresh spring rolls. Vietnamese peanut sauce has the perfect combination of sweet, spicy, salty and citrusy goodness.
This peanut sauce comes together in about 5 minutes. Some of the Vietnamese dishes that I make can be a little more on the time consuming side. The fact that this peanut sauce comes together so quickly and effortlessly is a huge plus.
The instructions for this could not be any more simple. You literally just combine all of the ingredients listed and you whisk over medium heat for a few minutes until everything is combined and smooth. When serving, I put the peanut sauce in a small serving bowl or ramekin. It’s optional but I squirt a little bit or Sriracha back and forth over the sauce. I then top that with about 1 tablespoon of chopped unsalted peanuts.

Easy and Classic Vietnamese Peanut Sauce
Ingredients
- 1½ Cups creamy peanut butter
- ¾ Cup warm water
- 3 Tablespoons fish sauce
- 2 Tablespoons sriracha
- 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 Tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 Tablespoon lime juice (½ lime)
- ⅓ Cup unsalted peanuts, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Heat a small pan sprayed saucepan on medium heat. Whisk all ingredients (excluding the optional peanuts for garnish) continuously for 5 minutes until fully combined and a creamy, smooth texture is reached. Optional: You may garnish the peanut sauce servings with the chopped peanuts and a small additional amount of sriracha. Serve on the side of your favorite dish and enjoy!
