Ingredients

  • 1 Box strawberry cake mix NOTE: You will need vegetable oil, water and eggs to prepare cake mix.
  • 8 Ounces cream cheese
  • 8 Ounces cool whip
  • 6 Fresh strawberries
  • Cup red sugar sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Prepare and bake the strawberry cake mix according to package directions.
  • In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to combine the cream cheese and cool whip. Place in the refrigerator to chill until use.
  • After the cake cools, use all of the cream cheese cool whip frosting and spread over the entire surface of the cake.
  • OPTIONAL DECORATING: You can decorate the top of the cake with sliced fresh strawberries. Also, you can use a heart-shaped stencil and red sugar sprinkles to design a heart in the middle of the cake. To cut fresh strawberries into the shape of a heart, cut the top (with the stems and leaves) into a V shape. Discard the top and you can round the edges to be more heart-shaped. Slice the strawberry in half length-wise and press gently into the top of the frosting.
